Holiday snaps!

 

Late January the mother and I decided to leave the dreariness of England and venture on a two week *vacation* to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This being the first long haul holiday we have ever been on, it is safe to say that it was a trip of a lifetime. Here are a few cheeky snaps to give a little peep into our fortnight of paradise:

 

The Dominican Republic is definitely a place to visit. Despite it being one of the more forgotten Caribbean islands, the people are unbelievably lovely, the food is amazing and the scenery...well, the pictures speak for themselves! Safe to say, after two weeks of copious cocktails, a detox is needed. But hey, that's what holidays are for, right?!

Current obsessions!

1. Classic eye makeup, consisting of winged eyeliner and strong brows.

2. Coral lips (highly recommend Chanel Genial Rouge Allure) - makes me think of summer!

 

3. Kitch and floral room decor - if my entire bedroom consisted of Laura Ashley and Cath Kidston then I would be a very happy girl.

4. My Michael Kors wallet - get complimented often on the shade and it is so practical as it fits EVERYTHING in it.

5. Holiday clothing. Undeniably, my wardrobe mainly consists of summer clothing. In the winter this can be a slight handicap, however when it comes to packing for a Caribbean getaway, I am spoilt for choice (I'm going to the Dominican Republic for two weeks at the end of January, yaaaaay)!
6. Geek but chic glasses. Basically, my eyesight sucks. I don't really fancy wearing contact lenses everyday but wanted glasses that would contribute to an outfit, rather than detract from it. I think these babies do just that:

7. Healthy eating. I have tried to cut out junk food and exercise everyday in preparation for my holiday. This has been mainly successful and I have lost 7lbs in 3 weeks. I am now reasonably happy with the shape I'm in :)

Welcoming 2013!

So, 2012 has finished and we are now entering a new year! Hope everyone had an amazing night :)

For many reasons, I am not particularly sad to being seeing the back of 2012. It has probably been one of the worst years of my life but on a more positive note, I have learnt a great deal from it and I believe that I am now a stronger person because of it!

NYE is also my best friend's birthday so all the girls got together and had a lovely night out in town. Here is my face from the eve:

 

 

I went for the usual winged eyeliner and red lip (Rouge Dior 999 if anyone was wondering). My dress is from Warehouse and was in the sale for a bargainous £25 - result!

Anyway, hope you all saw 2013 in with style and here's to a prosperous and happy new year!

Merry Christmas!

Hope you all had a wonderful festive period spent with your loved ones :) I was lucky enough to recieve a new camera, so expect plenty more uploads and just generally more activity on this blog!

October favourites :)

 

Cannot actually believe that it is now November - how quickly time flies hey? Hope you all had a wonderful October; I certainly did, what with birthdays galore and lovely autumnal days out! I'm not a massive Halloween fan but even I got into the spirit and rewatched 'Hocus Pocus'...THE BEST FILM EVER!

 

Here are a few of my beauty favs for the month of October:

1) Umberto Giannini 'Backcomb in a Bottle' - definitely does give volume and is perfect for a night out! Only use it when I've curled my hair as it does tend to make your hair slightly crispy so not sure how it would look with straightened hair. Anybody else had this issue?

2) Bourjois 'Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder' - to me, it gives exactly the same effect as Benefit's 'Hoola' bronzer and for a fraction of the cost - perfecto :)

3) Benefit 'High Beam' - am definitely going to be purchasing a full size of this baby. Paired alongside Mac's 'Fleur Power' blush = dream combo.

4) Max Factor 'Masterpiece Mascara' - recently rediscovered this and am questioning why I ever stopped using it in the first place! Seperates lashes and gives volume; two coats and you're good to go.

5) V05 'Smoothly does it' - I apply it to wet hair, avoiding the roots. Does seem to smooth down my incredibly frizzy and dry hair, whilst also offering heat protection. For less than £5, you can't really go wrong :)

6) Essie 'Status Symbol'/ any Essie polish really - going totally against the typical autumnal shades, this hot pinky coral instantly brightens up a dull outfit and makes me feel incredibly summery, a mean feat considering the increasingly cool temperatures we are experiencing. Previously, I used to be an avid Opi lover but now I am actually enjoying using Essie polishes a lot more. They tend to apply smoother and last longer...I love them and can't wait to expand my collection!

 

And now, *drum roll please* my hands down favourite beauty product for October was...

Rouge Dior in 999 'Rouge Ara Ara Red'

This lipstick was kindly given to me as a birthday present by my best friend a couple of years ago and I hate to admit that, until recently, it has been rather neglected. During the beginning of September I was organising my makeup collection and rediscovered this little beauty - I am currently kicking myself for not using this sooner! It is the perfect true red colour, makes your teeth whiter than white, and lasts most of the day - what more could you want? Lipstick heaven <3

(also featuring the Essie polish - they aren't in my favourites for nothing haha)!
